 VISIT  TO THE HIGH COURT

On August 12, 2015, a total of 24 Lower Six Council members participated in a study tour to Penang High Court. The visit was accompanied by three teachers Puan  Asmah, Puan  Fauziah and Encik Zulfikri.

We assembled at the school before heading to Penang High Court. At 9.00 am, we were heading to the destination.

The party arrived at Penang High Court at 10am. Most of the officers were assigned to entertain our group. For this reason, we were led by a number of officers to visit Penang Magistrate's Court, located close to the Civil Court. We arrived there and were welcomed by the chief judge, Mrs Zaharah and other lawyers-attorney on duty.

Madam Zaharah led us into the Sessions Court and explain a bit on the rules and etiquette while in the court room. In the Sessions Court, we have the opportunity to understand how the trial is carried out in the court in more detail. Apart from that, we got to witness how the Police Prosecuting Officer, Magistrate, Advocate and "intrepreter" carry out their duties in court.

Before leaving the meeting room, we assembled to take a picture together with Madam Zaharah and the Lawyers on duty. We left the Court at 12.30pm and headed back to school.

In conclusion, the visit has achieved its objectives. All members of the Lower Six Council were satisfied with the visit which we consider an opportunity to increase our knowledge on the judicial system in Malaysia.
